Top Left Photo: Shows the cross bar closest to the headboard with an added central support. We also add a support on the cross bar at the footboard end, it is very easy to do and provides a very stable structure for the slatted base to lay on.

Top Right Photo: Shows the closed base resting on the cross bars.

Bottom Left Photo: A close-up of the base, fully open, on the cross bars. The base just slides apart.

Bottom Right Photo: Shows the base on the bed. Note that the base rests within the sides of the bed and therefore doesn't need any fixings.
